Legal Duties and Authority
- Serves as chief judicial officer and presides over the People’s Tribunal.
- Interprets the laws and resolves legal disputes.
- Renders decisions on questions of law and issues binding rulings and sentences.
- Grants or denies bail under applicable standards.
- Ensures judicial decisions uphold both the letter and spirit of the Constitution and guards against exploitation of legal ambiguities or loopholes.
- May exercise the powers granted to judges, including judicial review, warrants, appeals, injunctions, contempt sanctions, oaths, and probation/parole supervision.
