Election Calendar

• Nominations and campaigns begin June 1 and December 1.
• Regular elections occur June 11 and December 11 (Northu Civics Day).
• Inauguration occurs July 1 and January 1.
• Terms are H1 (January–June) and H2 (July–December); elected offices serve six-month terms.

Council Voting Rules

• Default proposal voting period: twenty-four hours unless otherwise specified.
• At least two members must cast a vote for a proposal to be adopted.
• Approve, Oppose, Abstain, and functional equivalents are valid ballot choices.
• Zero or one vote causes automatic failure for lack of quorum; an all-abstention vote also fails.
• A proposal failing twice consecutively is null for the remainder of that session, without prejudice to future-session reintroduction.
• A failure for lack of quorum is not a rejection on the merits.

Eligibility

Public elections are limited to Full Citizens. A Full Citizen may run for public office if legal prerequisites are satisfied and the citizen has not been convicted of a Northudankton crime during the one-year period preceding the election date.
